How it works
From a name to a print on the wall.
Their name is spelled in real stars, found in a catalogue of more than 230,000 of them. Making one and watching it is free, with no account and no card, and you see the whole thing before you decide anything.
Making it
Five steps, about a minute.
01
Write their name
We search the AT‑HYG catalogue for real stars whose positions trace each letter. Every one is a star you could point a telescope at tonight.
02
Add a date Optional
The night you met, a birthday, an anniversary. The sky is rebuilt as it stood that evening, with each planet where it really was.
03
Add their face Optional
One photo. A field of real stars is dimmed and brightened by the photo's own light until their face appears. The photo is read on your device and never uploaded.
04
Watch it, free
The name connects across the night sky. Then fly out into the universe, past real galaxies and nebulae, to find their face. Preview the exact print, made from your actual sky.
05
Choose how to give it
Send it as a link they open in any browser, keep the PDF, or order the print. The print lists every star in the name by its coordinates, so any of them can be looked up.
Giving it
Make it, send it, or hang it.
The whole experience, as many times as you like.
They open it on their phone and watch their name appear. No app, no account.

What is real
Real, and drawn.
A page that says "these are real stars" owes you a clear account of which marks are not.
- Every star that forms a letter
- Real
- Their positions, magnitudes and distances
- Real
- The planets, on your date
- Real
- Every star in their face, where it really is
- Real
- Which of them the face lights, and how brightly
- Photo
- The lines joining the letters
- Drawn
- The haze and the glow
- Drawn
We are not a star registry and we do not name stars. Nobody can sell you a star. What you are buying is an artwork, a file, and a piece of printing.
